The Lucca plain is bordered at the north east by a series of hills, not particularly high, but quite steep, on the slopes of which were built some of the best known historic villas in the Lucca area. Climbing almost to the top of one of these hills you come to a charming little church, originally from the late middle ages, which has been transformed over the centuries, but which still preserves frescoes and paintings from the 1500’s and 1600’s. Not far from the church stands this little stone house, a beautiful, perfectly renovated farmhouse offering a magnificent view of the church and of the whole of the Lucca plain as far as the mountains near Pisa. It is just a short distance from a tiny village (130 inhabitants; food shops and restaurant) and just 12 kilometers from Lucca. It’s possible to drive down 10 minute into Ponte a Moriano where you can take the train into Lucca, or from Lucca you can continue on the train to Florence (1 hour) or elsewhere. Regarding parking at the house, you can park your car just 20 meters from the house, at the beginning of the private entrance road which leads uphill to the property.
