This Venice accommodation is located in the sestiere of San Polo which is a very typical neighborhood just minutes from the Ponte di Rialto.

Location

The sestiere of San Polo has many narrow streets and little canals. It is a main thoroughfare for Venetians going to and from work and therefore you’ll have a wide array of food shops available to you including bakeries, butchers, cheese and wine shops, cafés and restaurants. The Santa Lucia train station is about 15 minutes away on foot, the Rialto, with its open-air fruit, vegetable and fish market, is about 5 minute away (arrive early for the best selection!), and San Marco is 15 minutes away on foot. The nearest vaporetto stop is San Stae (3 minutes away) and here you’ll catch the line 1 waterbus which makes all the stops down the Grand Canal. About 4 minutes away on foot is the very charming Campo San Giacomo dell’Orio where you will find, among other stores, a bank and a Co-op (larger, inexpensive food shop).

Inside you'll be greeted by high ceilings with wooden beams and plenty of natural light. You enter directly into the spacious living area with 2 antique sofas, dining table with 6 chairs, and a kitchenette (fridge/freezer, microwave, oven, and dishwasher) and a pantry. Also on this floor, to the right of the entrance door is a modern bathroom with short tub and shower attachment. Under the archway and up a short flight of narrow and somewhat steep wooden stairs is a double bedroom (beds do not separate), a bedroom with two twin beds (can be moved together to form a queen) and a bathroom (WC, sink, bidet, shower stall and window overlooking the towers and rooftops of the neighborhood). A small alcove off the hallway upstairs holds the washing machine, iron and ironing board and has ample storage space for suitcases. In the twin bedroom there is a short, wide flight of steep wooden stairs which leads to the Venetian altana (terrace) which has a small white plastic table and chairs, with a lovely view of the adjacent Museum at Ca’ Pesaro and characteristic Due Torri canal below. There are 2 thermostats for the air conditioning/heating (one downstairs and one upstairs) for more comfortable climate control.

The apartment building is located in a small passage off the main walkway of the district and is therefore relatively quiet throughout the day and night. Once inside the building, a wide and newly restored marble stairway leads up 2 ½ flights to a landing on the second floor (U.S. 3rd). On the opposite side of the stairwell from the entrance to Michele is the entrance to the rental apartment Memmo, which sleeps 4-6 people.
