Lovely 2-bedroom apartment rental in the Oltrarno district of Florence. On one side, the building overlooks Via de' Bardi, and on the other it enjoys spectacular views over the Ponte Vecchio, the Uffizi Gallery and Florence’s basilica, Santa Maria del Fiore.

Location

The building is located in Florence’s Oltrarno neighborhood (south side of the River) on the Lungarno Torrigiani which, together with the avenues leading up to the Piazzale Michelangelo, were meant to be a place where Florentines could enjoy afternoon strolls and socialize in the open air. All of Florence is within walking distance from this magnificent location next to the Ponte Vecchio.

Property Details

3rd floor (US 4th; elevator and daytime porter); 947 sq ft.
The main entrance opens into a large room with a round dining table. A delightfully decorated cupboard resembles a green bookcase to the right of which an open archway leads into the living room with its large sofa and armchairs .An antique table and desk together with a careful choice of details such as pictures and silver candlesticks give a sense of being in a private home. The view out of the window overlooks the Loggiato degli Uffizi and the river. The color palette is a mixture of rich reds, dark greens and pale yellows.

The master bedroom (can be made into twins) is furnished in a very pretty porcelain blue/green and white print, with perfectly matched paintings depicting views of the country side. The view is once again over the river and the renaissance city with the Fiesole hills in the distance. The room has a small en-suite bathroom with a shower. The second bedroom is across the dining room and has twin beds (can be made into queen) with lovely peacock-blue covers to match the curtains. The window overlooks Via de' Bardi and the adjacent medieval buildings. Next to the room is a spacious bathroom complete with tub and hand-held shower.

The apartment has wooden parquet flooring throughout. The kitchen is fully equipped (fridge/freezer, 4-burner stove, oven, dishwasher, American coffee maker and toaster) and has a table and chairs for quick snacks. The apartment has air conditioning in each bedroom and in the living room. On request it is possible to have a microwave, CD player, DVD player, answering machine, baby crib, high chair, weekly/daily housekeeping.

The building's original structure dates back to the 15th century, when a myriad of little cobbled roads branched off from the Ponte Vecchio into the Oltrarno, one of the city's most charming and typical quarters. The Arno's banks were flanked by buildings belonging to wealthy aristocratic families (e.g. the Bardi family) – for this reason their residences were known as Palazzi.
