Location & Leisure Activities

The 3 luxury Tuscany villa rentals on this estate are situated in the suggestive hamlet of Vorno surrounded by olive groves and vineyards. Vorno is a delightful gathering of rustic stone farmhouses and majestic villas and has a picturesque church, small food shop (grocer/butcher), a bar and 1 restaurant.

The geographical position of Vorno affords both proximity to all of Tuscany’s cultural and architectural treasures as well as charming vistas of the countryside all around. From several of the upstairs bedrooms on the estate you will enjoy views north toward the towers of Lucca and across the plain to the Alpi Apuane (Geo-Alert: the Alpi Apuane is a small, marble-composite mountain chain north of Lucca, topographically separated from the Tuscan Apennines by the Serchio river which runs down into the Lucca plain, then southwest toward Pisa and the Tyrrhenian Sea).

The wonderful walled city of Lucca lies about 6 miles north of Vorno and houses the incredible Piazza dell'anfiteatro, Piazza Napoleone, Torre Guinigi and great shopping. The closest beach is in Viareggio, half an hour's drive from the estate. Florence and Pisa’s leaning tower are on your doorstep. The fascinating villages of Montecatini, Siena, San Gimignano and Volterra are all a day-trip away. But this area of Italy is famous above all for its wonderful olive oil, world-class wines and simple casalinga cooking (literally housewife-style). Because of its geographical position, Tuscan cuisine is the most varied in Italy and renowned throughout the world. You can choose from fish dishes deriving from the coast of Tuscany, infinite varieties of pasta dishes through to game and wild boar dishes from the Apennine Mountains. And of course, Tuscany is home to one of the oldest and most famous wines in the world, Chianti.

Distances: Lucca 6.2 miles, Pisa 12.4 miles, Florence 52 miles, La Spezia (Cinque Terre) 59 miles, Siena 90 miles, Portofino 91 miles, , Bologna 105 miles, Milan 175 miles, Rome 227 miles.

Outside

There are three villas on this estate, Villa Floreale, Girasole and Rosa. Each house has its own luxury kitchen, en-suite bedrooms, outdoor dining areas and private swimming pools. They share a tennis court, a gym, a fully-equipped office and use of the extensive gardens. Children and pets are very welcome. Events like cooking lessons and demonstrations, wine-tasting and local excursions can all be arranged by the staff.

Villa Floreale is located at the end of the cypress lined driveway, adjacent – but not connected to – Girasole.
